Cox and his fellow candidates, presented six different productions within eleven months collaborating with various directors such as Dan Crane, Paul Reisman, Dody DiSanto, Craig Baldwin, Timothy Douglas, and Aaron Posner. During his extensive course work at the ACA, Mr. Cox was certified with recommendation in Unarmed, Rapier & Dagger, and Broadsword by the Society of American Fight Directors, and is a current MFA candidate at Shakespeare Theatre Company's Academy for Classical Acting (ACA) at The George Washington University. Cox is a full-time assistant professor of theatre at BJU and an every-day adventurer with his loving wife, Allison. Cox has established himself as a proficient acting coach holding countless coaching sessions and theatre workshops on acting, Shakespeare, and vocal performance which have benefited students, teachers, actors, and public speakers along the east coast from the Carolinas to New Jersey. Cox to perform and/or direct for over thirty professional, community, and educational productions within the last eight years. His farm-boy roots and urbanite adaptability have enabled Mr. John Michael Cox is an actor, director, teacher, and acting coach keen on breaking down barriers and building bridges through the art of storytelling. When he’s not in rehearsals, he enjoys scouring the countryside for antiques with his wife, Kim. Jeffrey has performed his one-man show “An Amazing Grace: The Story of John Newton” at churches in New Hampshire, Indiana, Tennessee, and Texas. His most recent production of As You Like It marked GSC's 20th-Anniversary Season. He is founder of The Greenville Shakespeare Company, a nonprofit organization that exists to provide the Upstate of South Carolina and surrounding areas with family friendly, high quality, accessible productions of Shakespeare and other classic works of literature. He also studied Theatre Design at The University of Oklahoma with Forrest Newlin and Michael Buchwald. While at The National Shakespeare Conservatory in New York City, he studied with James Tripp, Mark Zellar, Peter Lobdell, Mary Lou Rosato, as well other Theatre professionals. His play and opera directing and design credits include over 60 productions. He recently sang the role of Henry Etches in Titanic: The Broadway Musical. He has played the title character in Hamlet, Henry V, Richard II, and The Merchant of Venice, as well as more than a baker's dozen of Shakespeare’s clowns. Jeffrey Stegall has been directing, designing, and acting for almost 40 years. Some of my roles were Othello, King Lear, Henry IV, and Falstaff. The division houses the departments of Journalism and Mass Communication, Cinema, Communication Studies, Communication Disorders, and Theatre. As a member of BJU's Classic Players, I've acted in or directed over 40 productions. In 2010 I oversaw the realignment of the academic program to form a new Division of Communication. I love teaching college students!įrom 1978 to 2012 and from 2016 to the present, I served as a faculty member in the Division of Speech Communication. Classes I've taught include Fundamentals of Speech, Classroom Communication, Small Group Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication, Acting I, Acting II, Performing Literature, Public Speaking, Oral Communication for the Professions, Advanced Stage Directing, and Media and Society. I've also served in the following administrative positions in the Communication Division: chair of the Freshman Speech Department (1984-88), chair of the Theatre Department (1988-94) and chair of the Speech Education Department (1987-2006). My wife Margaret and I have two married daughters and four grandchildren. I enjoy reading, golf, and running.
